This time out, I was willing to pace myself a little better, push a higher gear, and I was willing to hurt myself a little more. I also rode my 2009 road bike. While it weighs significantly less than the 1962 road bike I used the prior Sunday, I don't think my improvement comes from using the lighter bike - I'll chalk thoughts of that up to the placebo effect.
Whatever the reason/s, I managed to push myself up to the top of Nichols Canyon ahead of a handful of other riders. Redemption, 33 years down the line, is sweet.
